Challenges and options of intercultural dialogue in Mediterranean region Conference
The conference of "Global Commons and Universal Values in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership; Challenges and Options of the Intercultural Dialogue" held in Cyprus by the Amman office of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, EPP Middle East observatory and royal Institute for inter-faith studies.

According to Institute for Inter-religious Dialogue, the three days conference was held from 25 to 27 of April 2009 in Nicosia (Cyprus), studied different issues such as, "establishing and deepening political networks among political decision-makers and experts on the issue of interreligious and intercultural dialogue", "intensifying the dialogue about basic values within the EU", "considering basic values of liberal democracy from the perspective of the three Abrahamic religions and identify common objectives". Objectives such as "identifying reciprocal effects of globalization and dialogue of religions and cultures", "discussing the challenges deriving from immigration and integration for the interreligious and intercultural dialogue" and "discussing Europe´s responsibility in the field of interreligious and intercultural dialogue" were discussed in this conference. "Stavros A. Zenions", Rector of University of Cyprus, "Nicos Anastasiades", President of Depocratic Rally of Cyprus and "Mohammad Ali Abtahi", President of Institute for Inter-religious Dialogue of Iran were the introductory statements speakers on KAS Mediterranean Conference 2009.
