Dialogue with christian scholars
The Institute for Interreligious Dialogue, in its attempt to publish specialized books on interreligious dialogue, at the first stage published a book entitled 'Dialogue with Christian Scholars' authored by Seyyed Mohammad Ali Abtahi. As an introductory part, the author has written:
'Dialogue is an intellectual exchange. In other words, dialogue is a double-faced coin, one face of which is listening and the other speaking. The people who consider themselves on the right path and others as lost or deviated can never enter the scene of true dialogue. This book comprises six dialogues. In the dialogues, such essential questions as the following have been responded: What is the essence of religion? Which aspects of human needs are met by religion? Or better put, what are the domains in which religion cannot be replaced? Which part of the religion is constant and which part variable? How far is religion influenced by the dominant culture of the divine revelation era? What is the position of religion in the contemporary world? The above-mentioned questioned have been addressed to a number of Lebanese scholars. In the course of the dialogue, attempt has been made to assess the questions in an analytical and emphathic manner.'
The dialogues have been conducted with the following scholars:
- Hanna Fakhoori
- Tareq Mitri
- Carlos Salim Besteres
- George Kozor,
- Moshir Basil Oun
