In formation of each
civilization, the role of religion is of high
importance. The development of communication in today's
world has created a common destiny for the human being,
and consequently some links have been established among
cultures, civilizations and religions. With no doubt,
not only the religions have had a pivotal role in
establishing and dynamism of civilizations, but also
they are influential in the process of growth of these
new ties. Thus attentions towards Interreligious
Dialogues have found a specific importance. The
promotion of interreligious dialogues in the world is an
effort to enhance the rational tolerance and agreement
in the attitude of each individual toward other
religions. The followers of different religions, through
mutual familiarization are encouraged to learn from each
other and in these interactions; the spirit of religious
ease and moderation, avoiding violation and welcoming
the religious views of each other will be widespread.
The
main objective of the dialogue is understanding. In
order to reach understanding in the dialogue, either
sides of dialogue should have a common language, common
experiences, proper emotional ground and correct will.
Thus, the necessity of knowing other religions and
interaction with them, coexistence of different
religions in a country and that all religions have one
united essence and can talk and cooperate on common
points are among the prerequisites of inter-religious
dialogues and consequently the establishment of the
Institute for Inter-religious Dialogue. When proper
conditions are provided for inter-religious dialogues,
the inter-religious dialogues will create a ground for
modification and reconsideration concerning the
traditional understandings from religion. It is worth
heeding that in order to sit at the dialogue table, we
are in need of firm belief in our religion and we may
not lose our belief in the course of dialogue.
As a Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO), the Institute for Interreligious
Dialogue has forecasted considerable activities in the
domain of inter-religious dialogues. Of which, the most
important principal of these activities are to highlight
the necessity and importance of religious dialogue and
also awareness campaign directed at the interested
people in the field of religious dialogues. This
transparent circulation of information far from any
prejudice and unpleasant thoughts will encourage the

seriously. Consequently it will enhance the insight of
Iranian society toward religious researches and
